The VertuoPlus Deluxe by De’Longhi gives you the ultimate brewing experience. Offering freshly-brewed coffee with crema as well as delicious, authentic espresso, the VertuoPlus Deluxe machine conveniently makes five cup sizes: espresso (1.35 oz.), double espresso (2.7 oz.), gran lungo (5 oz.), coffee (7.7 oz.) and alto (14 oz.), at the touch of a button. Nespresso brings together the know-how of all its coffee experts, who have carefully chosen the origin and roasting of each coffee blend and created a brewing system using Centrifusion™ technology, a patented extraction technology developed by Nespresso. Just insert a capsule and close the lever — when activated, the capsule spins up to 7,000 rotations per minute, blending ground coffee with water and producing the perfect crema to enjoy quality coffee in larger cup sizes. The machine delivers the optimal in-cup results for each blend using capsule-specific brewing with barcode reading. New features include a moveable water tank to fit different kitchen counter space, as well as a motorized opening and closing of the brew head. Each machine includes a complimentary welcome set with a range of Nespresso Vertuo capsules with unique aroma profiles. Nespresso’s aluminum capsules ensure 100% recyclability and guarantee coffee freshness. Crema Not Thick, Breville a Better Choice I bought this to replace a Breville Nespresso Machine which took up more counter space, so I had the opportunity to compare them directly. The Breville Nespresso machine produced a much thicker crema and a better tasting coffee than this DeLonghi machine did. With the green-colored coffee pods the crema on the Breville was nearly two inches thick, while the DeLonghi produced barely half that. I suspect that the Breville spins the pods faster and with more force, or at least it sounds that way…

VertuoPlus has two design flaws Returned two of these VertuoPlus models: first one, the motor broke on the lid lifter, and the second one, the water carafe leaked. Nespresso is good about customer service to exchange for a new one, but after two problems with this newest model, I asked them to send me last years model, the Evoluo. In retrospect, I should have assumed a motorized lid was unnecessary and with more moving parts would be prone to failure over time (but not two weeks, for Pete’s sake), and the very slim water-feed…

I’ve never had coffee before, until now. If you’re currently using a keurig, then you have never had coffee. Throw your keurig away and buy this.Kidding aside, this produces flavors 300% better than the best keurig. Only draw backs are limited selection of pods, absolutely no tea, and you can’t get just straight hot water from it. To tell the truth, I keep this machine and a keurig in my kitchen.
