6 ounces is the new 8! We wanted a smaller coffee pot after the last one bit the dust. Figured we both drink about 2 cups per morning so an 8 cup machine should be perfect. Ordered this one but it seemed we were always out of coffee too soon. So I measured the water we were putting in the machine. Turns out it only holds 5 cups of water! The eight on the side means nothing. Turns out a cup of coffee is only 6 oz NOT 8 oz. When did this happen? Be aware. This is not 8 actual cups of coffee. Just saying..
