The quest for perfect espresso/cappuccino. Despite what some of the reviews say I’ve been able to produce some of the best tasting shots I’ve had anywhere with the Breville 800ESXL 15-Bar Triple-Priming Die-Cast Espresso Machine. Despite this machines short comings (thermablock/wet puck) for the money I think it’s a great buy especially at the $200 lighting deal price.
Disappointing We are fans of Breville espresso machines- this is the third we’ve had. But compared to the other two models (one the Barista Express and an older machine similar to this one) the 800ESXL doesn’t make particularly good espresso. We ground up half a pound of good beans trying to find a grind that would pull a decent shot, but could only get coffee that was too weak or a grind that the pump couldn’t push water through. This was a warehouse purchase so perhaps it was just a bad one.
