More than fifty extraordinary Americans, who have all celebrated their one hundredth birthday, share a century of insights. Paul Mobley has taken his camera on the road once again, this time to photograph America’s oldest and wisest citizens. Mobley traveled to all fifty states to find these indomitable, extraordinary centenarians. In this inspiring collection of intimate and powerful portraits, direct quotes, and personal stories, we learn that wisdom is the reward for perseverance. The centenarians in Mobley’s stunning portfolio are eyewitnesses to a century dominated by world wars and conflicts, space travel, and cultural and digital revolutions. Their stories are inspirational, educational, and deeply touching. In them, we are reminded that love, loss, hope, and grief are essential ingredients in a full life and that humor can get us through the worst of times. Mobley’s heartfelt portraits are a beautiful tribute to this unique assemblage of Americans. There are more than 70,000 centenarians in the United States alone. Each of them has touched others with their gift of long lives. This book is a celebration of this generation and an inspiration to the rest of us.

Couldn’t wait to get this book… I’ve never felt the need to write a book review until receiving Paul Mobley’s “If I Live to Be 100 – The Wisdom of Centenarians.” I was so excited when I received this book but even more so as I dove in and began admiring the images and stories. This is a wonderful book that captures the soul and spirit of these beautiful centenarians. As a Pastor, I believe everyone has a story, and Paul brings these people’s stories to life. The images he has made of those that have sat…

Great insight on living a good life Great read on people that lived to 100 and beyond and what their life experiences were. I bought the book because my 100 year old aunts were included in the book. The only twins to reach 100! They were featured on the Tonight Show. If you go to YouTube and search – 100 year old twins on the Tonight Show – you will see the full interview with them and also Carol Burnett.

Great photos but that’s it. Beautiful photography. The photos are rich and really very moving; however, the narrative portions of the book are meager at best. I wanted to know more about the people in the photos and was really disappointed in the brief and not very informative or insightful commentary.
