Asheville Bee Charmer, opened in 2014 by beekeepers Jillian Kelly and Kim Allen, has become a destination for both local foodies and tourists. This honey purveyor, located in one of the most pollinator-friendly parts of the United States, offers a range of bee-related products and more than 50 different artisanal honey varietals—each with its own unique color, texture, and taste.

Inspired by the vast honey selection available behind the Honey Bar, chef Carrie Schloss has created The Asheville Bee Charmer Cookbook, a collection featuring 130 recipes, 20 honey varietals, and 8 special Bee Charmer blends. With a color, aroma, and tasting guide to honey varietals and dishes like Bee Pollen Nut Brittle, Chipotle Honey–Marinated Skirt Steak, and Milk and Honey Dinner Rolls, this cookbook proves that honey is the best way to season or sweeten your next meal.

Schloss writes with the home cook in mind, packing complex, surprising flavors into recipes written in clear, accessible prose, and the recipes are accompanied by beautiful full-color photography throughout.

Beautiful gift for foodie friends or just to expand your own repertoire The Asheville Bee Charmer Cookbook is more than just a cookbook. First of all, not only is it really beautiful, it is super easy to use and offers great information on honey. Every recipe is confined to a single page. It makes it so much easier than flipping back and forth as in most other cookbooks. I love that the recipes are identified as Gluten Free, Dairy Free, and Vegetarian, too. Finally, I love that the recipes are sorted in appendices by dietary restriction and honey varietal. Makes it…

buy the book, it’s incredible! We stopped into their store and I somehow forgot to pick up this book while we were there (I may have been distracted by the incredible honey they sell). The recipes are simple to use and delicious but there is also quite a bit of information about honey varieties and the nuances between strains. Even if you don’t cook with honey often this book is packed full of incredible information.

Wonderful cookbook, and a great gift for culinary-loving friends … Wonderful cookbook, and a great gift for culinary-loving friends and family! The recipes are straightforward and quite easy—and delicious! The use of different varieties of honey produces distinct flavors and livens even the most basic of the recipes. I attended a cooking demonstration hosted by author and chef Carrie Schloss recently, and she is as impressive in-person as her cookbook! If you have the opportunity, attend one of them. Tip: the Bee Pollen Nut Brittle is to die for!
