Great coffee! (well, it used to be… see update) Extremely picky about my coffee. I have tried many types, automatic drip, pour-over, vacuum, french press, etc. and I keep coming back to this percolator. The results can be very sensitive from pot-to-pot on variation of bean count, grind fineness, and water level, but once you find the right balance, this produces a consistently excellent coffee comparable to (or exceeding) the best of the other methods mentioned. It manages to get the brew temperature right where it should be for percolating…
Did I really get an all STAINLESS STEEL model, or just the basic model at twice the price? I bought this for my 87 year old mother who wanted to go back to using an “old fashioned” percolator. I bought this more-expensive Presto model based on the picture of the product which has a clear label on the base that it is “STAINLESS STEEL”. The regular Presto model #02811 is mostly stainless steel but (I believe) has an aluminum nut in the base. The regular model is about $26, not $50.72. What I received does NOT have the STAINLESS STEEL label on the base, and the box…
We purchased a new one and love it, it makes delicious coffee and keeps it … Our Old Presto lost its ability to keep the coffee hot, after many, many years!!! We purchased a new one and love it, it makes delicious coffee and keeps it HOT without making it taste funny, it’s wonderful!!! Loved the old one too, it was very reliable for many years!!! PRESTO is the best percolator, we’ve tried other brands over the years and PRESTO makes great coffee and the percolator last the longest!!!
