Okay until something better comes along This is the closest thing I’ve found to coffee, but I drink it with plenty of sweetener and cream, so it’s more the body than the flavor that appeals to me. The recommended serving is 1 teaspoon per cup, which would be okay if you just wanted weak brown water. I’ve found that in order for it to have any real flavor at all, it takes two rounded tablespoons per one cup of water. That’s seven times as much as advertised. I have tried Pero, another type of coffee substitute and find Cafix to be closer to the real thing, although neither are all that close. Best substitute for coffee I am allergic to coffee – the bean – much to my dismay, and there really is no substitute, but the closest I can get is Cafix.
