False advertising: plastic gears. They advertise “heavy duty metal gears.” That’s a lie–they’re hard plastic. The stirring bars inside the unit are nothing but bent wire. And I’m beginning to suspect that the metal is NOT stainless steel. Unbelievable. I strongly advise you to purchase from Northern or other reputable manufacturer.

Whirley Pop Stainless Steel This is my second one. Still have the original for about 10 years now and works great, but have it at a vacation house. So ordered the stainless steel one. Received it Thursday and I did the prep seasoning on it. Did not really inspect for function. Defective Product. Stirring wand faulty. I purchased two of these poppers at the same time. One stainless for an Induction cooktop, the other aluminum; which is to be given as a Christmas gift. Both have the 17R lid. The stainless model I purchased for personal use is missing the metal (Brass) ferrule that supports the stirring wand.
