A thumbs up review. I waited two weeks to review this percolator. I’ve found over the years it doesn’t matter where a product is made, it’s how well the company want’s their product to last and perform over time. Hamilton Beach apparently has pride in their name because this heavy, well constructed pot has performed flawlessly over the past two weeks. I use bottle water kept in the refrigerator and paper filters in the basket. Cold water, as one reviewer has said fools the thermostat and the pot will perk a little…
Horrible! Don’t waste your money! Terrible! Shipping was fast as always with Amazon Prime though. I went through 1.5 gallons of bottled water and 34 tablespoons of coffee and this things stinks! I followed directions to a tee- first time I used 10 tablespoons to try to make 12 cups of coffee as the directions say use 8-12. Coffee came out like tea it was not dark at all. Poured it out and tried again thinking ok- I must need 12 tablespoons.
Brews pretty fast and a rich cup of coffee. This is the most inexpensive electric percolator out there. It does a great job and I am able to use one tablespoon less of coffee compared to my old percolator. As to whether it will last a gazillion years, don’t count on it. Purchase the square trade deal for around 4.00, it’s for 4 years. I will be buying a second one since it worked so well. The built is great considering it came from China.
