First brew French press I opened the bag I smelled the coffee and it smelled like a mixture of fresh cut grass … Ground soil and horse poop… Literally horse poop, almost like they didn’t roast it enough I didn’t smell any chocolate or anything sweet barely smelled like coffee … I got my French press ready and boiled some cold filtered water as I ground up the beans … I made the Coffee and poured it … It didn’t have an overly fantastic smell or a horrible smell and I didn’t notice any foam like I normally…

Flawless Roast Blue Horse is really fantastic. After a friend introduced me to 100% Kona coffee, I tried a few brands, and Blue Horse was the clear winner. It’s got a ton of flavor with just the right amount of bitterness. I’ve been drinking a cup every morning for the last couple of years, and every time I try something else, I remember why I keep coming back. The folks at Blue Horse have a great thing going, and I look forward to enjoying their coffee for a long time to come.

While the coffee was good, The dryness of the beans make me wonder … I was attracted to the family estate rather than a cooperative growing and sun dried method. However, I found the coffee to be a little less favorable than the coffee I brought home from Kona. Also, I noticed that the beans did not have the shiny, slightly oil coated appearance as the coffee I brought home. While the coffee was good, The dryness of the beans make me wonder about the freshness.
