I’ve drank my way through a third of the book so far. And, have had a great time doing it! What a fun little book, a list really of these great cocktails. His descriptions and prefaces to each chapter are entertaining. I’m working my way through the book. Only down side is the author uses some pretty obscure liqueurs that, at least for me in the midwest, are a little hard to get ahold of.

Tap into your inner Don Draper with this great book of classic libations Growing up in the 60’s I have vivid memories of my parents entertaining friends and family with a variety of classic cocktails. Robert Simonson provides a terrific little primer on how to mix drinks just as good as any high end bar would serve and you could overpay for. I’ve always made a decent Margarita and Manhattan but after reading this enjoyable book it’s clearly time to expand my repertoire. Super nice photographs inside! This book is really neat, with it’s MCM cover and super beautiful photographs inside. I got it as a display book on a front-facing bookshelf in our mostly-MCM decorated bedroom (ignore my still-wrapped picture frame. We are waiting for our wedding photos to come through.) The recipes are about what you would expect, standard three-ingredient drinks with simple to follow instructions. I keep it on the shelves right next to our bar cart, making the period theme very obvious.I really…
